From the Treasurer
Enrollment in the Bloom-Carroll Local School District has increased steadily over the past six school years as shown below. The District constantly monitors the amount of available classroom space as well as staff/student ratios in an effort to accommodate the increasing student population. Adding staff and classroom space while continuing to operate within the financial constraints of the District’s budget is often extremely challenging.
The last operating levy passed by Bloom-Carroll School District was in 2005. This increased the income tax from .75% to 1.25 %. Total operating millage on property in the district is 20 mills, which is the lowest rate possible for school districts in Ohio. The District has been able to operate without additional operating levies throughout the past 18 years by maintaining reasonable levels of spending as shown in the spending per pupil graph.
The Board and Administration are currently working to establish a budget for the succeeding school year. The goal of budget development is to enable our students and staff to meet their educational goals, while continuing to operate in a fiscally conservative manner.
We encourage input from the entire community regarding all aspects of our financial and business operations. Thank you for your continued support of the Bloom-Carroll Local School District.
Respectfully,
Travis Bigam, Treasurer/CFO
